Shrimp is the fish that even people who don’t like fish are happy to see on a plate. I confess that shrimp is one of my favorite foods. Like that scene in Forrest Gump, I like broiled shrimp, shrimp cocktail, fried shrimp, shrimp salad, stuffed shrimp…. I also felt that a dinner of shrimp was a great low calorie meal. It was low in salt, calories and fat and high in protein and omega3. It all true.
A four ounce serving of shrimp has just 99 calories and 21 grams of protein. It also offers just about a full days requirement of omega 3 and 1/2RDA of vitamin B12. Turns out that a plain white tee offers only an SPF5– and which drops to SPF2 when wet. This year I decided to try out sun-protective clothing to enjoy the sunshine without the burn.

Berries including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries are the jewel in the crown of the fruit world. They are loaded with vitamins, antioxidants and fiber. Even better they are super low in calories and both salt-free and fat-free.
All berries are high in vitamin C, the one nutrient most associated with fewer wrinkles. A mere 1/2 cup of strawberries ( 30 calories) has 70% of the RDA for vitamin C– ounce for ounce 60% more vitamin C than grapefruit.
IMO berries are the most delicious source of fiber. One cup raspberries ( 75 calories) yields 15 grams of fiber– more than 1/2 the RDA for this nutrient. By comparison 1/2 cup of cooked beans ( which are famous for their fiber) has the same 15 grams of fiber at twice the … Continue Reading… →

For example, in NYC everyone wears black all the the time. No exaggeration. But the fashion mags are always urging us to wear COLOR. Every time I wear an orange sweater or blue dress I feel so self concious I can’t wait to get home and change. Then the Glam Gals suggested that I use color in my accessories. Now I wear my little black dress and spike it with a green bag tied with a color drenched scarf and finished off with a pair of shiny black snakeskin shoes. I feel “fabulous” where ever … Continue Reading… →
