Fashion is Where You Find It
Its no secret that I love both vintage fashion and NYC street fairs. This summer summer my enthusism for both reached new heights when I discoverd Chic, Rattle and Roll, a rolling vintage store in a pink and black truck. Parked in the middle of the Second Ave Street Fair, the truck is set up like a traditional vintage store. Walk inside and you will find a rack of orange and green print dresses from the 60’s and 70’s, a pile of bell-bottom jeans, and aged leather jackets hanging on the walls. I especially loved the crocheted granny caps and six foot scarves. But my favorite area was the pile of pink and white dainty lingerie from the 30’s and 40’s. Peeking out from a traditional cardie or v-neck sweater, they add a sexy, quirky charm.
In the back of the truck, a vintage fabric covered screen provided a bit of privacy to try on the tempting options. But as the crowd of women grew larger around this fashion find, we started trying on clothing in the street and checking out the results in a nearby store windows. When you spot a vintage Missoni sweater for $29.95, modesty is totally abandoned.
