This week, Pam of Over 50 Feeling 40 is hosting Fashion Flash. She is such an inspiring and positive person I look forward to hearing what she is up to every week. At fifty she realized that she had ignored both her appearance and goals and decided to change the direction of her life. She is now a well-known fashion blogger, a brand ambassador and a role model to woman looking to make the second 50 years, the best years.
Not only do I love to collect scarves, I love to collect books that show how to tie my scarves. 50 Ways to Wear A Scarf is my new favorite– not only for its clear directions but its really lovely sketches make it a pleasure to read. The author, Lauren Friedman is a young uber talented illustrator that brings every outfit to life.
Each scarf tie has a an often iconic name. The ” Audrey” is a perky little square that looks perfect shown with a blue and white striped tee and red pants. The “New York” uses a large flower print square over a olive green jacket. I’ve seen this scarf at Fashion Week but could not figure how it is done. Now I do. I wore it all week and it made a very cold spring so much more bearable. The “Infinity” scarf is simply perfect and my new favorite way to wear a long scarf. By pairing a scarf with a totally wearable fashion illustration, its so helped me choose the right type of scarf for each outfit.
The illustrations in 50 Ways To Wear A Scarf are so wonderful I wish there were more that reflected my fashion needs. Ms Friedman is very young and many and most of the wonderful illustrations feature jeans, mini skirt, shorts, and tank tops. But for what does work for those of us over 40, this little book is a treasure.
