It’s Fashion Flash Monday!

fashion flash logoThis week, Melanie of Society Wellness is hosting the First Annual April’s Fools Edition of Fashion Flash.  Melanie asked all of the Fashion Flash bloggers to share their most memorable beauty or fashion fails.  It was so  much fun to go through the things that didn’t work.  I know  you will enjoy this edition of Fshion Flash as much as I did.

Fashion Flash Book Review: The Way She Wear It by Dallas Shaw

Finally a fashion guide that doesn’t  try to change you.  Instead, a talented celebrity stylist offers over 200 pages of beautifully illustrated ideas to crank up your own favorite looks.  To make it even more effective the book is divided into seasons.  This makes  it possible to organize style tips into relevant categories.

For example  the section on spring offers  ways to mix patterns, how to style  both skinny and flowered pants,  the right way to wear ripped jeans, layer on  kimono jacket and toning down florals with a grey tee.  And this tip really works.  I love  flowered  pants and skirts but felt they looked too fussy on an adult  woman. The grey tee totally gave the outfit a cool edge.  Nice.

Moving on to summer, this book offers great style tips when its too hot to even think about fashion.   When the  temperature soars, she shows how to add style with cork sole sandals, coral jewelry and  straw  bags.  I can’r wait to try our her black bathing suit, thin chains and  blue denim shirt for instant beach style.  I also love the way  she encourages  a minimalist like me to dip their fashion toes into boho style — laced sandels, embroidered tunics, and even a bit of fringe on my bag.

The chapters on fall and winter are so appealing that a little part of me actually yearns for cold weather to try out her take on wearing velvet. The Way She Wears It is a book to be browsed and  savoured. If you are looking for original yet wearable fashion advice,  get a copy of this book before your next shopping  trip.
