Question: I have been going to the gym everyday for the past two months and my weight has stayed the same. I’ve noticed that many of my fellow “gym bunnies” are not that lean either. A coach told me me that its because I am gaining muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. That sounds good, but my new “muscles” have not slimmed me down either. Do you have any advice backed up by facts? I am so frustrated I am going to get a big Mac with fries as soon as I have sent this email.
Answer: The balance between weight loss and exercise has puzzled me for years. For … Continue Reading… →
This week, Melanie of Society Wellness is hosting the First Annual April’s Fools Edition of Fashion Flash. Fashion Flash Book Review: The Way She Wear It by Dallas Shaw
Finally a fashion guide that doesn’t try to change you. Instead, a talented celebrity stylist offers over 200 pages of beautifully illustrated ideas to crank up your own favorite looks. This week one of our newest bloggers, Tania of Fifty is Not Old, is hosting Fashion Flash. I totally agree with Tania that Fifty is not old, but too many designers and fashion editors tend to void my tribe. Tania is a pathfinder that shows how to add style, color and southern charm to any wardrobe. Equally important is her recognition that our clothing NEEDS change as the years go by. Most of us work from the home and do not need a closet full of authoritative suits dresses and pumps. Nor do we spend the day in a car ferrying our kids from one event to another. We need comfortable clothing that is still chic and flattering. Leggings and tunics with cute shoes are now our new “uniform” … Continue Reading… →
This week, Cindy of Prime Beauty is hosting Fashion Flash! She is that rare blogger that knows how to ask all the right questions to develop truely valuable lifstyle posts. I have seen her in action and she is uber impressive. Interviewing a brand Cindy drills down to uncover the unqiue properties of each beauty product, how it works, how to use it and which skin type would benefit. Before I do some retail therapy at Sephora, I check out reviews on Prime Beauty to help me pick exactly what I need. If you already subscibe to Prime Beauty, you know what I am talking about. If not, sign up so that you don’t miss a single post.
This week the incredible Cindy from Prime Beauty is hosting Fashion Flash. She is an amazing make-up guru and I rarely make a purchase without checking her recommendations. The few times that I have been swept away by an ad or display that has not been evaluated by Prime Beauty the result has been a waste of time and money. She swatches literally every make up she recommends so I know the true shade, texture and fragrance before I buy it. I love shopping online, but I often can’t tell the true color of a foundation, lipstick of eye shadow. But Cinndy has done the heavy lifting and I can use her evaluations to order a new product online– and love the results. Yes, she is … Continue Reading… →

There are four key areas that they address– dry skin, body hair, dry hair and water resistant make-up.
