Its Fashion Flash Monday!

Shoe sluts unite!  That’s the battle cry of  Shoedish who is  hosting Fashion Flash today.  This week the site is looking  ahead to what’s new in flip flops. It cold and rainy today, but reading Shoedish makes me  believe that flip flop seson is just around the corner.  When it stops raining, I’m going shoe shopping.

At No-Nonsense Beauty Blog I’ve been getting alot of comments  about my post on vegetarians and skin care. Do Vegetarians Have More Wrinkles?

March is National Nutrition Month and I have vowed to eat at least 5 servings of  fruits and vegetables a day.  Its the minimum that most dietary  guidelines recommend and I can certainly see why.  Fruits and veggies are the source for anti-oxidants vitamin A, vitamin C, and then there is their all important fiber content. I was then stunned to  read  new study which found that vegetarians  had more wrinkles than  peple who ate everything. ???

The Link Between Carbs and Wrinkles

The NHANES study looked at  the diets of 32,000 Americans for ten years and  then compared the diets to a wide range of health issues including  heart disease, cancers and heart disease.  When it looked at aging, I was thrilled to read that  they looked at the links between diet and wrinkles.  I’ve posted the impact of   vitamin C, linoleic acid, andfat in an effort to come up with a true beauty diet.  I found it especially interesting that  as carb intake went up, so  did the number of wrinkles.  Its good to know,  but what type of carbs?

The True Beauty Oil

Linoleic Acid ( LA) is found in vegetable oils including safflower, sunflower and corn oil.  Its an “essential oil” which means  its one of two fatty acids that are  necessary for  good health.   Linoleic acid  hs been  shown to lower risk of heart disease, cancers and  reduce diabetes complictions.   When it comes to aging,  lack of linoleic acid  can cause dry skin, hair loss and slow wound healing. 

The NHANES study found that   women who had the highest levels of linoleic acid intake had  fewer signs of skin aging.   Its so easy to increase linoleic acid,  its stupid.  Use safflower  or cornoil  to saute food or prepare salad dressings.    Safflower based mayonaise  and margerine  will supply the same beauty benefits.  How easy is that?
