The three part anti-aging neck makeover at Marmur Medical started with Botox to relax those two vertical muscles under the chin. Next step is the Clear and Brilliant laser which is a baby version of Fraxel. My neck looked generally better after Botox, but the skin is still rough and bumpy. This is charmingly called “chicken skin” and is the result of a loss of collagen in the skin. Clear and Brilliant laser stimulates this essential protein, something the older neck sorely needs.
Aging Neck Meets Laser Love
In the examining room, my neck is pre-treated with lidocaine to reduce discomfort. Its a gel that is applied generously and remains on the skin for about 20 minutes. I grab a stack of magazines to read … Continue Reading… →
I have been trying out cutting edge anti-aging tools for my face and I love the results. Clear and Brilliant laser, Retin A, Botox, and IPL have made a lovely change in the quality, tone and color of my facial skin. My neck is another story.
The sallow color, little bumps as well as crinkles and wrinkles, make my neck look decades older than the rest of my head. It’s almost like a younger face is now on top of an older neck. Not good. As a child I remember an aunt who worked hard on her neck. Each night she slapped on a thick, heavily scented cream with a steady rhythm and slept with a chin strap to hold everything together. It didn’t really work … Continue Reading… →
When I started my anti-aging explorations, I really wasn’t thinking about my neck. It was just there to hold up my head and someplace to hang a great necklace. As I could see changes on my face from Retin A, I could see a clear difference in the skin quality between my cheeks and my neck. Dr Marmur, my uber dermatologist, told me that I could use Retin A on my neck, but it would take at least a year to show genuine results. She also reminded me to use sunscreen on my neck, something I had NEVER done. It just didn’t occur to me.
After several months on Retin A without the big results I saw on my face, we decided to remove the big freckles and age spots with lasers … Continue Reading… →
I don’t hate my neck– I just would be happier if it looked fresher and smoother. I had been using my DDF hand held exfoliator on my face with good results and wonderered what it would do for my neck? After all, its made of skin, like my face. Using the foam sponge with the Polishing Crystals gel, I worked it around my neck for one minute. It gave me a warming sensation that was stronger than I felt when used on my cheeks.
When I rinsed off the remainder of the polishing gel, I was delighted to see that my neck looked pinker, fresher and the lines less obvious. Even the dreaded “chicken skin” bumps were softened. Clearly the exfoliator had removed the dry, dead, skin cells to reveal a healthier and fresher complexion.
I have been using the same anti-aging plan for my neck for about eight weeks and here are the before (top)and after (bottom) photos. While the changes are not as dramatic as they were on my face, you can see a genuine improvement. There is now a pinker tone to the skin so there is no longer such a big difference in color between my neck and face. It was a nice surprie to see that the baggy skin under my chin looks significantly tighter. You really have to hand it to Retin A!
The texture is a bit better, but still looks a bit like chicken skin ( eg bumpy). The horizontal lines are about the same.
It takes much longer to repair neck skin, so I’ll just keep going with the plan. At night I apply … Continue Reading… →
